Finally Landscaping

Well, after nearly a year living in our new home, we've finally been able to do some landscaping. Especially since all the snow is gone. This weekend has been all about patching up the horrible lawn we have. I think the grass sod were laid slap-dash in a hurry when the house was finished about 3 years ago because you can seriously harm yourself just walking on it! It's even more dangerous since you can't see where the holes and bumps are when the grass gets high. Even Keira knows to tread carefully on this crappy lawn.

We spent the weekend going around adding soil and grass seeds but we've only covered a quarter of the lawn. The really serious holes. In the meantime, Miss Keira spent the entire time watering the lawn, carrying the weeds that I took out to and from her crab sandbox, laying down handfuls of grass seeds on the dirt mounds and basically being her wonderful self. lol. Doing what she could and the help was appreciated. Lots of wasted seeds but, whatever. Small hands, big heart.

Hey daddy! You missed a spot!

Stanley Cup fever in Old Montreal!

Forget the brushes, let's paint by hand!

The "cram hands into small jar of water" then "3 finger paint smush" technique of painting...

Then cleanup time becomes bubble-time with water and bubbles everywhere. Nice!

Goodbye Winter!

The last bit of snow has finally melted in front of the house! Hooray!! It's back to being outside with Keira and going to her favourite destination: The Park. I can't wait for our fence to get installed and then buying a swingset for her because the park here is still within walking distance but not close enough to home when there's a meltdown. ;P

These types of weeks...

Well, once again, hubby is going on another business trip. Back to hog-land, aka, Arkansas. Of course, no direct flight so it'll be another 3 days, 1 day travel and setup, 1 day of meetings with Wally ppl and another day of un-setup and travelling. Sadly, being a rather tall dude, the short flight from hub ports are sometimes the smaller DC types (therefore, no leg room!).

I hate these business trips. Murphy's law dictates that whenever he's off, I am stuck with special print projects or heavy workloads at work. And I have to try to hightail it out of the office by 4:30pm to get to the babysitter's by 5 or so. I hate that stressful feeling! On top of it all, got a call from the babysitter saying she had a death in the family and can't take care of Keira all Wednesday! ARGHHH!!! I almost keeled over from the stress of it all last night. lol. Luckily, my sister-in-law's in town from up north and is willing to take on the Keira challenge. ;P Thank you Lord!

On another topic, Keira is on a Cars trip. Literally. She's been watching Disney/Pixar's Cars movie for about 2 weeks now. Straight. On a shopping trip yesterday, I couldn't believe that Cars items are made only for boys! How sexist! Well, didn't care and bought her Cars underwear and jammies anyway! Take that crappy license companies! Girls are into cars too!

Keira finally manages to take some shots!

Using my camera... most of the shots ended up being my belly and forearm but these turned out pretty good...

Scrapes

Well, Keira's first fall and scrape of the season. Had to happen some time right? Now that the pavement is dry but everyone's still in boots and snow pants, those little legs trip up over themselves...especially when they're used to gliding on snow.

Keira apparently tripped over her own feet on the caregiver's driveway (where they usually play). I still don't fully understand this but she tripped going forward but ended up flipping backwards somehow and landing on her face! I need to get the full details tomorrow. This doesn't sound right.

Anyways, it's the first time her face is scraped up from her chin, on her nose and forehead. Apparently she didn't cry but did ask for Tempra before bedtime and then proceeded to clown around til 8:30pm. lol.

Sarangheh!

Nomo Cute! Pogoshipoh!

hahaha! too cute!

The clarinet the clarinet, what do I like about the clarinet?

Keira's been on the Baby/Little Einstein kick for about 2 weeks now. I think it's all the imagery and music she loves. So..hubby took out his old, dusty clarinet and showed Keira... She pretended to play her version of the clarinet on a red straw, including sound effects! lol.

May I take your picture, please?
