chalk drawings

Theme song to Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings by Edward McLachlan

We had a beautiful albeit somewhat cold and windy day today. Keira was off to a school chum's birthday party (refreshingly a boy's birthday party) and afterwards headed to a friend's house. The Mister and I had an afternoon date together. We ended up eating lunch without interruptions (heaven!) and watching a good ole movie together with the surround sound blasted up. Woo!

Keira wanted to go outside again after supper and decided to do some chalk drawings on the driveway. It just brought me back in time and I had that theme song from the cartoon I used to watch on Captain Kangaroo, Simon in the Land of Chalk Drawings in my head.

"Well you know my name is Simon and the things I draw come true, Oh the pictures take me take me over climb the ladder with you."

A very awesomely quiet day today. I relished it after a topsy turvy kind of week.

official school photo day

Today was School Photo Day. I asked Keira how she posed and what I saw kind of scared me. I took this photo after supper tonight just when the sun decided to poke out from the grey clouds. Hopefully the photos will turn out okay. If not, I think I'll make this her official school photo!

let's play!... uh, um.. soccer?

Adrienne shades - Milk & Soda shop

About 2 weekends ago, the weather was glorious (that has since chilled again)! Where did that amazing summer weather go? We've had rain and yes, even snow (!) this week.

Ever had your kids come up with weird rules on how to play a made-up game? That's Keira in a nutshell. Sometimes I pretend that I'm listening to her when really, I just tune out with a vacuous look on my face. Then we have to play said torturous game. lol.

Meanwhile, I ordered that hat she's wearing in the pics above from Milk & Soda. We love it! That's the Sibella Riding Cap and also shades. The shades are awesome but the riding hat is just so cool. I've blogged about Milk & Soda before (here and here) but this is my first time ordering from them. Thanks to Leah (who is really so sweet!). I still can't get over how amaze-balls her site is.

Um, yeah.. haha.
Nope.

making time

Keira before the haircut. Long hair. Beautiful any which way.

Keira waiting for her haircut, cake pop in hand. She stopped eating this one because it wasn't cooked! Shame on you Starbucks.  Hope she doesn't get sick.

Well, I finally made some time to get my hair coiffed. My last cut wasn't growing out very well. Oh heck, let's be honest, it looked horrible. I looked horrible! The blunt angle cut the stylist gave me the last time grew out very heavy on the bottom and flat on top. It's pretty much the same length as before now but feathered out. Ah... I also decided to get Keira's hair cut at the same time. Pourquoi pas?

Keira after the haircut (yes! she requested the curls again), chocolatine in hand. She was very hungry today.

Ever feel like your wheels are spinning at top speed but you're not getting anywhere fast? I've been feeling this way for a while now. I really need to stop putting myself last and start making some time for myself. My health and body is suffering. I have no one to blame but myself. Ever feel like you're on the go all day long and when you finally have the time to sit down, your head is still buzzing and you just stay up all night searching for something.. Relief. Peace. Something to soothe you to sleep. Anything. That's me in a nutshell. I pin. I read blogs. I watch TLC's Long Island Medium. I work on freelance projects. I suffer from insomnia. Then I wake up feeling wrecked in the mornings but still force myself to run on the treadmill at 6:30am. But it's not a great workout half the time because I'm feeling wrecked.

I have to stop putting myself on the back burner. But how??

special sneak peek, ballet

This weekend's ballet class was a special one. For a few weeks, the girls have been practicing their special ballet number with their costumes and this weekend was the official photo shoot. With that in mind, I decided to go all out and put Keira's hair up in a braided chignon. Not that I really know how to do this braided chignon! But I think it came out really spectacularly and was I ever glad I put her hair up because all the other girls came to class with their hair in different varieties of a chignon.

What I love about Keira is how she gets special information in class (whether at school, swimming or ballet) and never shares it with us. So last week we showed up for her swim class and found the doors barred shut. "oops! oh yeah mommy, they told us it's closed for easter weekend. Teehee!".  Urgh.

The girls all coming in to ballet class with chignons... hm...

Here's a special peek at Keira in her costume that she will be performing in a the end of year ballet performance. Can you guess what animal she will be? (hint: think pink with a curly tail!)

easter weekend - sweet shot tuesdays

Did you all have a nice Easter break? Twas all quiet and easy going on our end. It was also my turn to be sick with food poisoning. Not exactly fun but it didn't put a damper on our Easter either. I haven't been feeling 'tip top, ship shape' as Keira says but eventually, I'll get there.

Check out Keira's easter bounty! Believe it or not, most of this stuff lasts the entire year. In fact, we still have a chocolate from last year's Easter on the shelf. And the only reason why the rest have been eaten is because of the mister and I! lol.

Making this, my Sweet Shot Tuesdays. Head on over to My 3 Boybarians to view a whole lotta awesome photos!

an awesome evening out

evening dining out
Represent

A special evening out. There was something planned for tonight but the plans fell through. However, there's always a positive to a negative right? I picked Keira up from school earlier today, she paid a quick visit to my office and away we went for a dinner date with our favourite dude in the whole world: her Papa. It was nice, it was quiet...

...it was an awesome evening out.

sugar shack baby

Sugar Shack! Keira is still recovering from last week. She survived her swimming class on Saturday but just barely. On Sunday, we decided to head to our local market area for the cabane à sucre event they were holding (sugar shack) and Keira wanted to ride her new bike there. I think by the time we got there, her energy was spent. We were in line for about a half hour waiting for the face painting and then Keira hooked up with a school chum but couldn't make it through the kid's show. In fact, about 5 minutes in, she wanted to go back home. Didn't even get a taste of the tire sur neige (maple taffy on snow/ice)! Whatever stomach bug got her last week, it sure zapped her appetite and energy (had a bit of a freak attack when I saw how much bonier the kid is. Yikes!). Slowly but surely, she'll be back to 100%.

Hope you all had a wonderful & relaxed weekend!
